Welcome...  6 Quick facts about the class!

Homework is graded regularly.  Each time a lesson is assigned, the student will grade his/her own work.  Every problem is corrected.  The students are encouraged to write in the correct answer if they do not get the problem correct.  Honesty is stressed and expected during this process.

01 - Grading of Homework

This year we are using the GO-Math 6th grade math series. This program follows the program being utilized in the lower grades at Algonquin Elementary.  The program is aligned to the national standards - common core.

05 - Testing Information

All of the test in the class are from the GO Math program.  To be successful on the test, it is extremely important that you stay up to date on the homework, ask questions for clarification, and focus on the story problems.  All of the test questions are in a story problem, question, format and are multiple choice.  All test will be given online via the ThinkCentral website.

You should plan on a Quiz every Monday.  The quizzes cover material from the previous week.  Quizzes are designed to "check" your retention of the lesson(s) from the previous week.

03 - Grading

The grading is student led.  Each day we complete a lesson the student will grade his/her own paper and I will then call for scores.  I switched to this format to allow the student to have immediate feedback on all of their work and allow for the oportunity to ask immediately and daily for clarification.

06 - Homework

Homework (lessons) to completed are given on a regular basis. Most of the time, I give ample class time to complete or nearly complete the homework.  If you are spending "hours" doing your homework, something is wrong and you need to speak with me.
